M&E welcomes a new member to our Editorial Advisory Board. Graham Cooper had a 40+ year career in manufacturing, working for Vickers, DuPont and Agfa Gevaert before founding consultancy Systems Excellence.
As operations director for an Agfa factory in Leeds he led the organisation’s quest to avoid closure. The site qualified for ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 (now ISO 45001) and the Biodiversity Benchmark, and was one of the first companies in the UK to achieve ISO 50001. It won UK national awards for sustainable manufacturing in 2007, 2008 and 2011 and became the exemplar plant in Agfa’s worldwide network of plants for health and safety, maintenance excellence, financial control and sustainability. Mr Cooper led an Agfa worldwide project to spread sustainability, with all Agfa plants worldwide being required to follow the example of the Leeds plant, saving €15m from the company’s annual expenditure on energy.
He is a member of the trust and the board of governors of UTC Leeds, and the founder and main organiser of the Leeds Manufacturing Festival.
The Editorial Advisory Board meets twice a year and plays a vital role in helping to keep M&E up to date with developments at the cutting edge in industry and academia.
