Harting, the electrical and electronic connector technology specialist, has appointed Simon Asbury as its new UK managing director. He takes over from Peter Hannon, who retired in December.
Asbury has worked in the electronics and electrical sector since 1988 in a range of engineering and sales roles. He joined Harting in 1997 as a sales engineer, before taking over management of the company’s distributors. In 2001 he became field sales manager, with responsibility for the electrical arm of the business, before promotion to director of sales and market development in 2007 and to director of sales and marketing in 2018.
Hannon worked for Harting for over 22 years, joining as financial controller in 1998. Three years later he became finance director, before being appointed managing director in October 2005.
He said: “Fifteen years has flown by and a lot has happened during that time. The company has matured and grown significantly, and it has exciting plans for the future. I am proud of what the Harting UK team has achieved together.”
Asbury worked alongside Hannon for several years, which will allow for a smooth transition and continuity of leadership. The new MD said the company would continue to develop its digital strategy and bring market-leading connectivity and networking solutions to enable customers to digitise and customise their products and operations, and it would continue to invest in its manufacturing site in Northampton.
The Harting Technology Group is one of the world’s leading providers of industrial connection technology for data, signal and power and has 14 production plants and 44 sales companies. It celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
