Entries will be judged on the basis of how well they meet the criteria outlined below for each category and the rules/tips for entries on the Entry Form
Maintenance Project of the Year
This category covers maintenance, upgrade or enhancement projects, including retrofitting or the introduction of new systems or procedures, either for a single machine or production line or with a plant-wide impact. Entries should demonstrate innovation and how productivity or performance has been improved as a result.
Asset Management
This award will recognise excellence, innovation and efficiency in the management of assets across a company or plant, including assets not directly related to production processes – for example, building management. Entries should demonstrate evidence of an improvement in efficiency or productivity as a result of the project.
Employer of the year award
This award will go to a company or organisation which has demonstrated excellence in all aspects of its relationship with its workforce, from recruitment and training/development to well-being.
Product Innovation of the Year
This award is for a newly–introduced product for use by maintenance personnel which uses new technology or applies it in a new way and has potential to make a testing, diagnostic, maintenance/repair or monitoring procedure significantly more efficient.
Process Innovation of the Year
This award recognises the application of new technology or the use of technology in a new way to improve the efficiency of a complete manufacturing or diagnostic process or production line/cell.
Training Initiative of the Year
This award recognises excellence in a training programme or initiative designed to improve the skills of the workforce directly or to help or encourage them to acquire new skills, or an outreach programme aimed at stimulating interest in engineering skills in a specific group – including school-leavers, apprentices, graduates, and experienced staff. Evidence of take-up should be provided.
Health and Safety Award
This award will go to a company or team for a campaign that has shown innovative thinking in bringing about a significant and demonstrable reduction in risk to the safety and health of its workforce or the public, including in relation to working during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Predictive Maintenance
An award to recognise excellence and innovation in the collection and analysis of data, demonstrating reduced downtime and failure through effective use of the data for identifying and predicting potential failure.
Energy Efficiency
An award to recognise the application of an innovative technique or thinking which has demonstrated a significant decrease in the energy use of a plant or process.
Sustainability and Environmental Impact Award
For projects and initiatives which have demonstrated a significant impact on the environmental impact of an organization or production process.
Software as a Solution Award
For a software solution (new or upgraded) that has demonstrated a significant impact on the productivity of its clients’ operations.
Young Professional of the Year
For graduates or apprentices under 30 who have made a significant and innovative contribution to the activities of their organisation.
Maintenance & Engineering Excellence Award
This award will go to the entry from any category which, in the opinion of the judges and editor, is the most deserving of a special accolade on the basis of innovation, productivity or potential impact across industry. All entries are automatically eligible for consideration in this category.
