Eaton Hydraulics unveils state-of-the-art training centre

Eaton Hydraulics has completed a major investment in its UK training centre in Havant, Hants.

The centre is designed to make sure that professionals in hydraulics have the knowledge to be able to exploit the potential of new smart technology as fluid power evolves in the age of electronic control and industry 4.0 technology.

The new centre is based at Eaton’s key power and motion factory in Havant, so that there are close links between the centre and design, development and manufacturing activities at Havant.

The centre can cater for up to three courses at a time, and the instructors are all fluid power specialists, serving a range of knowledge levels and training needs. There is a focus on advanced electro-hydraulic solutions and products, with fully equipped state of the art labs. These allow hands-on training in mobile, industrial and product specific areas, which offer advanced instruction on PLCs and closed-loop electronics and controls.

Instruction is also provided on how to calibrate the software associated with the company’s new ranges of intelligent smart valves to make sure they are optimised fully in use.

At the other end of the spectrum, Eaton’s entry-level “Principles of Hydraulics” course will exceed the British Fluid Power Association Education and Training committee’s Minimum Education Recommendations for Hydraulics.

Training manager Graham Sanders said: ““Keeping pace in a rapidly evolving market can be difficult and we feel that it’s important that companies such as Eaton offer as much support as possible. New technologies in hydraulics can bring benefits such as increased efficiency leading to reduced power consumption, increased productivity and reduced downtime.”

Eaton has been offering hydraulics education for over 60 years, building on the heritage of its predecessor Vickers.
