Enclosures protect sensitive electronic and electrical items from the atmosphere in which they’re installed. But maintaining the internal temperature within required parameters often requires active cooling because heat is trapped inside the enclosure, particularly for enclosures for washdown environments. The Rittal Blue e+ cooling unit uses heat pipe and inverter technology to respond to temperature fluctuations. When the ambient temperature is low, heat pipe technology provides cooling using fans alone. As the temperature rises, speed-controlled components provide additional mechanical cooling or active cooling, as required. Typical energy savings of 75% can be achieved.
